HORTICULTURE, photography and handicrafts are just of some of the sections set to pull the crowds in for this year's Rainford Autumn Show on Saturday 4 September.
The horticultural section has many classes for flowers, fruit and vegetables. There are medals and certificate awards to be won from the National Vegetable, National Rose, National Dahlia and National Chrysanthemum Societies, plus special sections for Rainford residents and Rainford Horticultural members.
There are also classes for anyone under 16 years of age; pumpkin, a vase of flowers and the biggest sunflower.
The photography section titles are People, Places I have visited and Animals, all either colour or black and white, plus small prints on any subject, maximum size 7"x5".
The winner of this class will receive one year's free membership of the Ormskirk Camera Club. There is also a section for anyone under 16 years of age to display their expertise, in any subject, maximum size 7"x5".
The domestic section has classes for confectionary, preserves and handicrafts. For the under 14 years of age, three decorated fairy cakes and for the under 16s, handmade decorated greetings card, decorated name plate for bedroom door and decorated gift wrapped parcel, maximum size 20cm (8").
In the floral art section titles are 'Where there are flowers there are fairies', 'Turn a new leaf', 'A secret garden', and a craft class, 'A fairy tale', petit arrangement not to exceed 10".
Under 16 years also have their section with titles 'Lord of the rings' and a craft class, 'Gandalf's hat', maximum height 30cm.
In the ceramics section titles are 'A glazed piece' and 'A painted piece'. For the under 16 years of age 'A painted piece'. This year there is also a novelty class, a scarecrow of maximum height 5ft to be displayed outdoors.
The event takes place at Rainford Village Hall.
