YOUNGSTERS at Newton le Willows Sports Club are celebrating a grand slam after the centre netted a £3,750 cash boost.
The money, received from 'Awards For All', is funding new tennis coaching sessions and the sports club are keen to encourage new members to sign up.
Professional tennis coach Steve Vincent has been working at the club to help promote and develop tennis in the community after it was awarded the grant to run a mini tennis programme. Based at Newton Tennis Club, the sports club is now running successful coaching sessions on Monday evenings for the cost of £1.
Amanda Owen, Junior Co-ordinator, said; "Tennis is a difficult sport to keep young children interested in and I hope they will continue to enjoy and play and, who knows, we may even find a Wimbledon hopeful!"
The club has four men's teams and two ladies' teams that play in the Warrington and District league, and new members are welcome. If you are interested in joining the club then contact Amanda on 01925 227995.
