IN the Star Premiership, John Ody hit a hat-trick and John Grady grabbed a fourth as Shoe overwhelmed a plucky Clock Face Miners side 4-1 at Crawford Street. Paul Eccleston replying.
Goals from Paul Styles and Glenn Sebastian rescued Eccleston United at home to local rivals The Stars, coming back from two goals down to tie the game 2-2. The big surprise was a 1-3 defeat at home for Carr's Hotel by an energetic Windle Hotel outfit.
The Dragon, however, had a no-nonsense 4-0 home win (Gary Moore (2), Adam Martin (2)) over Haydock side Old Congs. Dentons Green went one better than last by edging out Rainford North End 2-0 at Bishop Road.
Although Chris Hughes scored Globe's first goal of the season in the Booth Mechanical Division One game at home to Prescot Leisure Reserves, they went under 1-3 to tough opposition. Martin Pinnington and Chris Tunstall were on the mark for British Lion, beating the Sidac Reserves at home 2-0.
In a nine goal belter, Gerard Arms scored three times through Adam Marsh, Aiden Barrett and Paul Coldwell, but they were beaten 6-3 at Saracens Head.
Next week's mid-week fixtures September 7 will be the last midweek games and will be 6-15pm kick off's.
