SAINTS have key players Jason Hooper and Nick Fozzard missing for the visit of league leaders Leeds tomorrow night (Friday, 8pm).

Both players picked up knocks in the bruising win at Warrington last weekend, and are added to a casualty list that already includes Jon Wilkin (ankle) and Mark Edmondson (shoulder).

The influential Hooper suffered a knee injury after he was felled in the act of scoring late in the game at Warrington.

While Fozzard appeared to pick up a couple of heavy knocks against his former club.

Also doubtful are John Stankevitch and Ade Gardner, who also picked up injuries in Sunday's gripping tussle.

Coach Ian Millward can call on young forward James Graham, who has returned from England Academy duty Down Under, and Samoan pack man Maurie Fa'asavalu.

It is a must win game for Saints if they are to beat Wigan for fourth place and the home tie that comes with it.

Although Leeds are effectively playing for nothing, having already secured top spot, they showed last week at Wigan that they are not prepared to ease up ahead of the play-offs.

Saints have accounted for Leeds twice already at Knowsley Road, including a stunning 56-10 win in April.

But there has been a turnaround in fortunes since then, with Millward's men suffering the damaging 70-0 debacle at Headingley, which has played havoc with Saints' for and against tally.

Millward said: "I know Leeds are playing well and we have players out, but we can't use that as an excuse.

"We are playing for fourth with Wigan.

"We can't finish second, even if we win our last two games we will get done by Bradford on points difference and Hull have two soft games."

Friday's game is not on television and Saints will hoping for a five figure crowd.

Meanwhile, Millward has praised the performance of last Sunday's referee Ashley Klein.

"I was given the referee's tape by mistake and the way he spoke to the players was outstanding. For anybody to be critical of him is a downright insult.

"He got pulverised on the radio phone-in on Sunday - and I rang Stuart Cummins up to praise Ashley," he said.
