MURDER and intrigue comes to The Lowry in September, with the performance of 'Dial M For Murder' and a celebration of the anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock's 105th birthday.
Based on the play by Frederick Knott, Hitchcock's stylish film version of this classic thriller was one of the biggest hits of the 1950s. Shot in 3-D with Ray Millan and Grace Kelly, it was released 50 years ago in 1954.
Middle Ground Theatre Company's production of 'Dial M For Murder' features a cast of familiar faces from television including Lancashire born Steve Pinder (Max Farnham in Brookside), Richard Walsh (Heartbeat, London's Burning), Joy Brook (The Bill, Peak Practice) and Richard Grieve (Neighbours).
The story tells the tale of Tony Wendice, a retired tennis star who had quite blatantly married Sheila for her money. When it seems that she is in love with Max, Tony begins to plot her murder. But is there any such thing as 'the perfect murder'...?
'Dial M For Murder' comes to The Lowry from 6-11 September.
