'CATS', the world's most successful and longest running musical, lands at the Liverpool Empire Theatre this week for a limited season until 30 September.
Since leaving its West End home, after 21 record-breaking years, 'Cats' has proved to be as popular as ever and has enjoyed phenomenal success touring the UK to sell-out audiences and critical acclaim.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical spectacular, based on 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' by T S Eliot, opened at the New London Theatre in 1981. Featuring feline favourites such as the Rum Tum Tugger, Skimbleshanks and Mr Mistoffelees, music, dance and verse fuse together in an enchanting blend of fantasy, drama and romance.
On 29 January 1996 'Cats' in London became the longest running musical in West End and Broadway history when it broke the record previously held by the Broadway production of 'A Chorus Line'.
Worldwide, 'Cats' has grossed over $2 billion and been seen by over 50 million people.
With its enchanting tale set to a stunning soundtrack that includes the classic 'Memory', 'Cats' will have audiences young and old pawing for more.
