A POSTMAN had his car and mailbag stolen while on his rounds on Tuesday morning.
The postie had been driving the maroon Ford Galaxy short distances in Rainhill then stopping to deliver mail. At about 11.45am on View Road, Rainhill, a crook jumped in the car and drove away. Police say at least one full bag of mail was thought to be in the people-carrier style car.
The postman's mobile phone was also in the car and when the number was phoned a man answered with a Liverpool accent before hanging up.
Police are appealing for witnesses. They are also warning motorists not to leave keys in the ignition when they are not behind the wheel.
Contact police on 0151 777 6969 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have any information.
