A NEW production of Twelfth Night aptly marks the hugely popular English Touring Theatre's twelfth visit to The Lowry in Salford.
The play is directed by Stephen Unwin, winner of the Globe's Sam Wanamaker award in 2003, and runs from September 28 to October 2.
The plot sees identical twins Viola and Sebastian shipwrecked, and Viola, believing her brother to be drowned and determined to survive alone, disguises herself as a boy.
As 'Cesario' she enters the service of Orsino and is sent on a charm offensive to woo Olivia.
The resulting tale sees 'Cesario' swept into a whirlwind of unrequited love, mistaken identities, high comedy, low tricks and desperate passion.
The cast features a variety of familiar faces from television, stage and film including Manchester's own, Alan Williams, whose recent credits include 'The Life and Death of Peter Sellers' and 'Wire in the Blood'.
Other cast members include Des McAleer, from Angela's Ashes, as Malvolio and Michael Cronin, from Grange Hill, as Toby Belch.
On Saturday October 2 there will be an audio described performance of the play, which will be preceded by a Touch Tour, enabling members of the audience to join members of the cast on stage to explore the space, set and selected props and costumes.
The Touch Tour begins at 6.15pm and tickets are available for any of the shows at the Box Office on 0870 787 5793 with prices ranging from £14-£18.
