LAST Thursday's Newton-le-Willows Anglers Association disabled and over sixties sweepstake was fished by 24 anglers on the lower pound of the Sankey Canal.
The winner was Albert Griffiths with 5lbs-14ozs-10drms of ide on long pole. He alternated caster and maggot throughout the match and it paid off.
In second place was Paul Connor with a bream and roach catch on pole for 4-9-12.
Third place went to Sid Tarbuck with a tench and silver fish for 3-2-8.
Fourth place was Harry Newton with a catch of silver fish for 2-11-2.
Fishery News: The Yew Tree Reservoir is producing some great fishing both for carp and silver fish.
Some fantastic catches of roach to maggot or caster on the drop with individual fish topping the pound mark.
