THE Dragon outfit of the Star Premiership lead the top scoring list in the weekend's results, a 8-0 demolition of Clock Face Miners was the result of goals scored via Jay Taylor (2), Gary Moore (2), Andy Maguire, Kenny Black, Mike Hamuda and Tony Gray.

Shoe were also in top form, going nap 5-1 at Eccleston, whose reply came from Gavin Scott. Jeff Lea found the net for Windle Hotel, but they were held 1-1 at home by West Park Eccy's Arms.

Carr's Hotel just held on to beat Dentons Green 2-1 with goals from Gary Newnes and Craig Jones. Keith Barker found his old scoring form to register Old Cong's goal, but they went under 1-2 at home to Rainford North End.

The Stars (John Lyon (2), Paul Oakes) held all the aces with a solid 3-0 away win over York.

In the Booth's Mechanical Division One the top score registered was the 6-2 away win for Sidac Social Reserves at Roundhouse, Paul Houghton (3), Mike Clark (2) and Paul Atherton scoring for Sidac. Mike Shone and Dave Fenney goals gave Junction A 2-1 home win over Gerard Arms. Globe excelled in forcing a 3-3 stalemate at Dragon Reserves but British Lion had to fight all the way for a 3-3 draw at Pilkington A.

Following last week's demolition of Saracens Head by Prescot Leisure Reserves at Moss Bank in the LCFA Cup, the two sides met again in the Combination also at Moss Bank.

This time Prescot just held out for a 2-3 result in a great game, Vinnie Hoey (snr), Liam Hynes and Colin Jenkins grabbing the goals for Prescot.

Rifle continued their good form by sneaking home 4-3 against Sony, Rifle scoring through Brian Rolls (2) and a penalty double from Martin Dixon.

Luck seems certainly to have deserted Orange House in the Hatton Travel Division Two. Although there is no shortage of goals from them, Steve Bradley and Barry Kenyon yet again, defensive lapses seem imminent as yet again they go down by the odd goal.

This time player manager Mike Simmons scoring twice and Shaun Moon adding the other for a 2-3 away result for Top Nogs.

In the high scoring 6-5 home win for North End Reserves over Dentons Green Reserves, the North End's goals came from Sean Cairnes (3), Andy Walsh (2) and Chris Heaton.

Colin Boardman found the net for Carborundum, but the Eagles were stunned 1-5 by Boilermakers.

A note worth mentioning is the milestone reached by Dragon stalwart, Earl Harding, who this term starts his 20th season in the St Helens Combination.

Earl, who learned his trade playing alongside his highly skilled father, Willie Harding, in the depth of the defence of the highly rated Prescot Celtic side of the 80s and himself being a prominent member since of the successful Child outfit who lifted the LCFA Junior Cup twice in the nineties.

Earl, who himself featured in the Combinations U18s squad as far back as 1985, was also a regular in the Combination's open age squad for many seasons and very highly thought of in soccer circles around St Helens, Rainhill and Prescot.
