POLCE have made a belated appeal for witnesses after a 32-year-old woman was assaulted by a man twice on the same evening.
The 32-year-old victim was walking her dog along Prescot Road at 7.10pm on Tuesday, August 10, when she was approached by a group of men.
One of the men assaulted the woman, but police say she managed to escape and went to a relative's house.
A short while later the woman was with the relative at Crowther Street, West Park, when the same man assaulted her. She suffered facial injuries and needed stitches at Warrington Hospital.
A man has been arrested in connection with the assault and released on bail. Detectives, meanwhile, are appealing for witnesses to either of the incidents to contact them.
They are particularly keen to talk to two men in a red five door Ford Fiesta who came to the victim's aid after the first attack.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
