I AM a busy mum of three and a few weeks ago I enrolled for calligraphy 1v12 +3 nocn at St Helens College. I completed 1v11 in a 35-week course in 2003/04.
I have been told that, due to lack of funding in adult education in the St Helens area, almost all of the courses this year will not be running. Out of 48 art classes I believe only two will be running.
Another reason I have been given is due to lack of numbers in the classes, but this I know not to be true as in my class I know we had the numbers required.I have seen the adverts on TV encouraging adults to return back to education. My question is why? Adult students are not wanted by St Helens, and I say that from experience. The door has been slammed well and truly shut in my face.
