POLICE have repeated warnings about doorstep conmen after another spate of 'bogus official' burglaries in the past week.
The latest incident happened on Monday night in Haydock, when a man posing as a water board official tricked his way into a house and stole cash.
In the past fortnight conmen have also targeted homes in Parr, Eccleston and other homes in Haydock.
Detectives say the men claim to be from the water board and target the homes of elderly people, particularly on afternoons.
Detective Inspector Steve Lowe from St Helens CID urged neighbours of elderly folk to act as the "eyes and ears" of the community and alert police if they notice any suspicious.
He also urged people to make sure their elderly relatives do not keep substantial amounts of cash in their homes.
