IN this close game Bridge were the first to score a converted try after 20 minutes followed by a drop goal to lead 7-0. David Ball kicked a penalty for the Lions to get on the scoreboard. Just before half time two missed tackled by the Lions saw the Wiganers take a 15-2 lead.
After the break the Lions replied with a Graham Grimshaw try, Ball hit the upright with the conversion to leave the score at 15-6 to Bridge.
The Lions replied with hooker Jimmy Tyson going over, Martin Griffiths kicked the goal.
The Lions were right back in the game now but were denied a Martin Griffiths try by the referee under the posts and a Dennis Hall try by the touch judge in the corner.
The Lions left the field feeling hard done by.
The Birkett Motors man of the match was Graham Grimshaw with captain Ian Penketh taking the players player award.
