Clock Face Miners 24

HAYDOCK completed their first double of the season with another close win over neighbours Clock Face.

Haydock were soon off the mark with a try after just two minutes, when Nick Tinsley went over in the corner.

They then went further ahead with two more tries by Paul Green and Danny Pearson, both goaled by Craig Haughey to put them 16-0 ahead in as many minutes.

Clock started to get themselves together and were on the scoresheet soon after when Dave Hamilton sent Graham Leadbetter over for a try.

Haydock responded with a penalty goal from Haughey but it was now Clock who were getting on top, and five minutes before the break they scored another try when Karl Walker went in at the corner. Craig Greenall added on the extras to make it 18-8 to Haydock.

After the break a long pass out by Clock's Hamilton to Walker saw him pass onto Steve O'Neill who slipped in, in the corner. From being 16 points down Clock now took the lead when Steve Molyneux had the ball knocked from his hands as he went over the line, but good backing up from Hamilton saw him touch down under the posts, and give Greenall an easy conversion, and Clock the lead.

Haydock's stand off Craig Haughey restored their lead as he darted through for a try which he goaled. Full back Neil Wade added another try, before Haughey added a field goal to his tally, to round off the scoring for Haydock.

Even with the game drawing to an end Clock were not yet beaten, and managed to add a further try to their score when Andy Johnson set up Leadbetter for his second of the game, but it was not enough, as time ran out, and Haydock ended up worthy winners.

Best for Clock was Steve Molyneux. Karl Grounds and Alan Johnson worthy of mention.
