Adlington 40
FINCH are still looking for their first win of the season, after Adlington effectively had this game in the bag just after half time when they scored three tries in five minutes.
But it was a much better performance from Finch in the first half.
Adlington opened the scoring with two converted tries from their big centre, but Finch bounced back when centre Chris Mason sent winger Ste Dilsworth darting in at the corner for a try.
This was followed by a try from scrum half Chris Ratcliffe when he raced through a posse of defenders and then converted his own try.
Solo
Adlington replied with a penalty but Finch took a deserved lead when Chris Ratcliffe, straight from the base of the scrum, stepped through for a superb solo try and then booted over the conversion.
The Adlington loose forward then scored a long range converted try for the visitors to take a 20-16 interval lead.
Ratcliffe narrowed the gap to two points after the beak with a penalty, but Finch then hit their bad spell before they got a consolation try when full back Andy Burrows sent Dilsworth over for his second try with a Ratcliffe conversion.
The man of the match for Finch was Chris Ratcliffe ably supported by Anthony Seabrook and John Derbyshire.
The top tackler was skipper and hooker Stuart Simmons followed by Ste Richards and Anthony Seabrook.
