I HAVE been listening to many people joining in on this debate about the play-off system for deciding the destiny of the Super League title.

Some people think that whoever tops the table at the end of the regular season deserve to be given the title.

I think these people must be either crazy or Leeds fans!

The RFL have brought so much to the game since the switch to the summer era - the play-offs, fireworks, the video referee and best of all snazzy new names for clubs.

Rumour has it the St Helens Slugs will be playing in the Super League next year, although marketing has never been my forte.

I thought this week I would discuss the video referee as it has been a controversial topic in recent weeks, following the last two play-off games at the JJB.

Despite all the critics of the video referee, I honestly believe the system has been a success.

I am sure Saints fans remember Apollo Perelini's try against London in 1996.

The lads certainly do as its Apollo's favourite topic of conversation!

He squeezed the ball down in the last minute and that vital try may have helped Saints to win the title.

My point is sometimes the decisions go for you and on other times against.

But they 99 percent of the times they are the right decisions.

The coming games should be really entertaining and I hope it advertises rugby league well in front of a national audience, particularly with the play-off games being shown on Sunday Grandstand.

With international fixtures approaching, people will be looking to stay in shape and get selected.

Good luck to any of our lads who do get selected for any of the international teams!
