LSH seconds progressed through to the second round of the North West Halbro cup with a comprehensive win over Blackburn.

Fielding a youthful side featuring a number of debutants LSH powered past their opponents with a competent and assured performance from the pack and a lively and incisive display from the backs.

Blackburn, however, enjoyed early dominance and went ahead with a penalty after 12 minutes.

The hardworking LSH pack gradually gained control enabling the first score after 27 minutes.

A kick and chase from hardworking winger Chris Dyson was followed up by Danny Collins and passed to scrum half Chris Wibberley who made no mistake from 10 metres.

LSH completely dominated the remainder of the half with back rowers Ben Davis and Phil Kearns causing all kinds of problems for the Blackburn defence. They went further ahead after 35 minutes when a great run down the middle from Ray Doolan was continued by Ashley Stewart before wingman Tom Nelson finished off in style by the corner flag. Dan Barkley, after missing two rather easier attempts, added the extras to give LSH a 12-3 half time lead.

LSH continued to attack immediately on the restart producing two tries in five minutes from Nelson to give the 20 year old a hat trick.

The first came after a quick move along the backs and the second, converted by Barclay, came from yet another strong run from Doolan, now seemingly back to his best after missing over a season through injury.

Blackburn grabbed a try in the 66th minute before LSH finished strongly with a second score for the impressive Chris Wibberley, seizing on a defensive error.
