A FORMER Saints winger now living in Thailand quickly contacted relatives in his old hometown to assure them he was safe following the tsunami disaster.
According to former Star rugby league correspondent Denis Whittle, 76-year-old ex-Saint Jack Lawrence assured sister Margaret Spriggs, of Sutton Manor, that he and wife Noi were well. The couple live in the Nakhon Ratchasima area, some 600 miles away from the disaster area of Phuket. However, Jack, better known as Mick, faces an anxious wait for news on friends living in Phuket and the island of Phi-Phi.
'Mick' made 72 appearances for Saints between 1948 and 52, scoring 26 tries.
