PREMIER Division outfit Beeches were knocked out of the Guardian Cup, losing 2-0 against West Cheshire League Mond Rangers.
In the Depot Cup Village Social had too much experience for Newton-le-Willows, running out 2-1 away winners.
In the league, Penlake were beaten for the first time this season in the Premier Division, with former champions Whiston offering hope for the chasing clubs winning 3-2 in appalling conditions at Whiston.
Second placed Vulcan are the main beneficiaries, their 2-1 win at Moorfield narrowing the gap at the top of the table to 12 points. Whiston's win moved them third some distance off the pace however.
Two games survived in the Grange Valley sponsored First Division with Blackbrook bouncing back to form in stunning style demolishing Halton Borough 9-3 with a convincing performance. Kevin Picton collected a hat trick for Blackbrook, who move 4th after this result.
In Reserve Division One there were goals galore with Halebank smashing seven past rock bottom Haydock.
Just one other game was possible, with Reserve Division Two strugglers Widnes Bayer beaten by Blackbrook Reserves 4-2.
