A 15-MINUTE spell either side of half-time settled this battle of Division One strugglers as Finch completed a derby double over their local rivals.

With five minutes to go to the interval the visitors were deservedly ahead 4-0, courtesy of a Simon Haigh try.

Indiscipline cost them dearly though as two penalty awards allowed Finch to establish the position for hooker Chris Mason to plunge over.

Winger Adam Walsh added the conversion and from then on Finch never looked back.

Early second-half pressure by the home side saw loose-forward Tony Seabrook go in for their second try.

And shortly afterwards an interception and 80-yard dash to the tryline by the speedy Walsh - who also added the goal - effectively put the game beyond the reach of a wilting Portico Vine outfit.

Good work by centre Kev Parylo paved the way for his wing partner John Derbyshire to grab Finch's fourth try midway through the half, with Walsh adding a fine touchline conversion.

And the homesters rounded off the scoring when skipper Stu Simmons strolled through a tiring defence from acting half-back.

Simmons was the Land Recovery Ltd man-of-the-match for Finch ahead of Parylo and substitute Chris Ratcliffe.

He also took the Ozz Sports top tackler award, with stand-off Richard Twist and Seabrook also to the fore.

For Portico Vine, hooker Willie Kelly, second-row Danny Whittle and loose-forward Dave Jump tried hard.
