CLOCK Face started off the New Year with this comfortable win over a spirited Bamber Bridge side, and also completed their first double of the season.

Even though they were playing against the strong wind, it was Clock that got off to a flying start when Steve Molyneux broke away, his pass then to Steve O'Neil saw the wing man race away to score, with Craig Greenall adding on the extras.

Ten minutes later and Clock went further ahead when Steve Hayes battled his way through the Bamber defence to the line to score his first try of the season.

A penalty goal by Greenall extended Clock's lead still further. Then O'Neill went in for his second try of the game when he raced away from the half way line down the wing beating the defence to go over under the posts, with Greenall again goaling.

Although Clock were well on top now, the visitors were not down and out. Just before the break, they hit back with a try, when Andy Swarbrick raced through a gap in what had been a solid Clock defence to score, and with Simon Smith converting the try brought the score to 18-6.

The second half started with a revived Bridge putting Clock under pressure from the start.

But poor handling from the visitors and good defensive work from Clock, with Karl Grounds, Steve Ludden, and Ian Chisnall to the fore, prevented them from adding to their score.

It took until midway through the half before Clock scored again, when Alan Johnson slipped the ball to the supporting Dave Hamilton who forced his way over the line to score.

Clock put the game well out of their visitors reach with their final try of the game, when Molyneux managed to pass the ball out of the tackle to Greenall who scored the try which he then goaled.

Even with the game coming to a close Bridge continued to compete, and were rewarded with a consolation try, when Paul Abram crashed over under the posts, Smith converted.

The Kwik Seal man of the match for Clock Face was Steve Hayes, with Craig Greenall and Andy Johnson worthy of mention.
