READING in the Star about the history of the Vincent ice-cream family took us back to our earliest ice-cream memories in the early thirties. Although my husband is from Prescot and I'm from Whiston, we both have fond memories of the ice-cream carts and the bell ringing to attract us.
A ha'penny cornet was all we could expect but eagerly looked forward to, with the delicious raspberry vinegar-whatever happened to that? Of course a penny wafer was a dream to us as pennies were hard to come by!
Can I just say that we enjoy your very interesting Star newspaper, especially the articles of the 'olden days' variety.
