THE team who run Solar 1287am, St Helens College radio station linked up with more than 260 other national and local stations on Monday to help create UK Radio Aid.
Every commercial station in the UK broadcast UK Radio Aid - a day of very special guests, presenters and activity to raise money for the Tsunami appeal.
The link up lasted from 9am in the morning until 6pm that evening and also included hospital in-store radio stations and BFBS the British Forces Broadcasting Service. A host of celebrities and personalities were heard during the appeal including Davina McCall of Big Brother, Chris Evans who was broadcasting for the first time in three years, Simon Bates, Zoe Ball, Eastenders favourite Shane Ritchie, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne and Johnny Vaughan.
This was the first time such a link-up had been made and it's hoped that the appeal will raise several million pounds for the disaster fund.
