A father-of-two died after suffering a massive heart attack while driving his car on the East Lancs Road.
Steve Wikberg, 48, of Blackbrook, was driving home from work at 4.40pm on Wednesday, January 12, when he suffered the attack.
This week his devastated family said in a statement: "Despite having a complex heart condition for the last 15 years, Steve has lived and worked a full and happy life. He leaves behind a devastated wife, Gina, and two devoted sons Ian, 21, and Danny, 19."
The heart attack caused Steve to swerve his car into the inside lane of the East Lancs at Croxteth and clip a lorry. No-one else was hurt and no other vehicles were involved.
The lorry driver and a member of the public tried to revive him before emergency crews arrived. He was taken to hospital but could not be resuscitated.
Steve's family added: "The family would like to take this opportunity to thank witnesses and emergency staff who helped."
Family, friends and colleagues who wish to attend the funeral can contact FW Marsh funeral directors on 01744 22810 or 27928 for details.
