Frickley Athletic 2

ALTHOUGH Cables did not display the form that has taken them to the top half of the Unibond Premier division, their supporters left the ground with a sense of injustice after a physical display from Frickley.

The first goalmouth opportunity of note came 13 minutes into the match when Simon Garner's shot went over the bar.

Cables continued to dominate but it was Frickley who had the ball in the net on 22 minutes, only for the referee to signal a free kick for a foul on Cables' goalkeeper Andy Paxton.

A minute a Frickley defender nearly headed into his own net, with goalkeeper Gary Ingham tipping the ball out for a corner.

Another nice link involving Garforth, Peers, and Garner almost gave Cables the lead on 25 minutes, but the Frickley defence were equal to the challenge.

Cables were denied another chance when Mike O'Donnell appeared to be held back in the penalty area, but it was not seen by the referee.

Challenge

Twenty minutes into the second half play was stopped when Frickley's Steve Woolford made a late challenge.

The referee spoke to the offending player but chose to keep his cards in his pocket.

On 69 minutes Frickley were awarded a free kick 35 yards out.

The ball found its way to Andy Evans whose header hit the inside of the post and trickled over the line.

With six minutes remaining Wael Nazha slotted the ball under Andy Paxton to make the score Cables 0 Frickley 2.
