Thornhill Trojans 31
THE Heath remain firmly rooted at the foot of the table after slipping to a Trojans outfit that consolidated its bid for at least third spot in the table with a 32 point to 10 win.
Thornhill had lost their previous two away games but the return of Scott Dyson and Jason Firth, who went straight into action after having stepped off the plane from Australia earlier in the day, proved to be crucial.
Firth picked up the man of the match award from the loose forward position while Dyson opened his side's account with a drop goal midway through the first half.
Up to that point Thatto gave a good account of themselves, but loose passing and a lack of ideas in the opposition red zone always hindered them.
The Dewsbury outfit were 15 points to the good by the break thanks to tries for second row Rob Carruthers, who crossed under the posts and substitute James Folan, with full back Wayne Loney adding three goals.
Thornhill continued in much the same vein after the interval, with centre Scott Woodcock and second row Matthew Roberts nipping over and Loney converting each score.
Thatto, however, at last got off the mark when centre Mark Hayton raced over on the hour and the home side also had the last word with a fine try and a goal five minutes from the close by winger Mike Woods.
Between times, though, Roberts had notched his second touchdown for the visitors.
Thatto men of the match: Dave Smith and Mark Hayton.
