FINCH slipped deeper into the relegation mire with Ulverston enhancing their own safety with a thriller victory.
But Finch ensured they were always in the hunt and with forwards Danny Flynn and Sean Fogarty leading the way they ensured that Ulverston had to put on a performance of quality to win the day.
In fact Finch scored the try of the match after 15 minutes when full back Andy Burrows broke from his own line to send winger Adam Walsh on an 80 metre run for a brilliant try which he then goaled.
But Ulverston fought back with three tries, one converted to make it 14-6 to Ulverston at the break.
Finch reduced the deficit in the second period when Ste Richards put winger John Derbyshire over in the corner for a try.
But shortly after, Derbyshire went off with a dislocated shoulder and skipper Stuart Simmons retired with a badly damaged ankle and Finch began to struggle in the last quarter.
