ARTISTS from Garswood Art Club will be showing off their brush strokes with the group's third exhibition on Saturday 5 February, 9am-4pm.
Ruth Clarke, a member of the Independent Methodist Church in Garswood, where the group meet and the exhibition will be held, set up the art club in May 2002.
Ruth, a full time shift worker for Merseyside Ambulance Service, said, "I started the club because I felt that there was a need for more adult activities in the area. It was a slow beginning for the first four weeks, with just myself and one other lady, but we now have over 25 regular members and others on the books.
"Our last exhibition in July 2004 featured 139 exhibits and attracted over 200 visitors, and this event will have between 150 and 200 pieces on show.
"I am very proud of the club and it has given me a lot of satisfaction to see members sell their work, improving their art skills and making new friends. We are a very enthusiastic bunch of all ages and new friendships have been formed, that enrich our lives as much as painting. The group welcome anyone who would like to join us from complete beginners to experienced artists."
The Garswood Art Club meet on Monday mornings from 9.30am until 12pm at the Independent Methodist Church Hall on Victoria Road, Garswood. There are also plans to start an evening art club for those who work during the day.
