IF you are part of a voluntary or community group, it's never been simpler to apply for a grant reckons St Helens Council.

Across St Helens such dedicated teams have until the end of February to apply for grants from St Helens Council.

Following a major review, the grants process has now been modernised and improved and the new programme is clearer, easier for people to understand and supports local priorities. The council will support groups to access and use all the grants available locally and will improve co-ordination between grant providers.

There are four grant programmes each of which is awarded once a year except for Activity Grants which are available throughout the year.

Activity Grants - Grants of up to £200 for activities and events that involve local communities.

Small Core Funding Support Grants - These are contributions of up to 50 per cent or £2,500 which cover organisations whose activities contribute to or further the aims of the Council's Corporate and Community Plan.

Priority Themed Grants - Grants of up to £1,000 are available to provide disabled access and adaptations to buildings. The theme is reviewed each year.

Core Funding Support Grants: This programme is open to larger organisations that provide a service on behalf of the Council. Funding will be over a three year period based upon a Service Level Agreement and jointly agreed targets based on local priorities.

But remember to return those completed application forms by February 28.
