I AM writing to tell your readers about an experience I had which restored my faith in the our police force here in St Helens. Too often I read letters of complaint, but credit needs to be given when it's due.
I took some time in the morning to go to St Helens Cemetery to visit my grandparents' graves and tidy them up. While there I called police to let them know some boys were vandalising the old chapel.
I thought they'd be long gone before the police arrived, but to my surprise the police arrived in less than ten minutes. They then apprehended three boys.
A very professional officer took my name and address and arrived at my home within an hour to take a statement. I was very impressed with the police officer's manner, speed and attitude with which the situation was dealt with.
I would like to congratulate them through your newspaper. I think the police like most of us are under a great deal of pressure at work, and they usually meet the general public when they we are at our most stressed. So well done the boys in blue!
