THE sounds and memories of a golden era return to the stage of the Theatre Royal on Saturday 5 February, with 'Sounds of the Glenn Miller era'.
With a classic line-up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, a rhythm section and singers, the Nick Ross Orchestra faithfully recreate the classic Big Band sound of the 1940s.
A selection from the repertoires of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and Ted heath will be featured at the event, including well known hits such as 'In the Mood', 'Little brown jug' and Moonlight Serenade'. The concert would not be complete without reference to the songbooks of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
The 2004 Glenn Miller Centenary Tour saw the NRO performing at over 45 theatres across the country, at Big Band Weekends and on an annual transatlantic Big Band cruise onboard the luxurious 5 star M/S Westerdam.
This year, the orchestra take part in the 60th anniversary of VE Day celebrations, as well as a 50 date theatre tour.
Tickets for the Theatre Royal cost £12.50 and are available from the box office 01744 756000.
