CHRISTMAS might come but once a year, but Oh Boy! Do we feel the effects after; carrying those extra pounds on our waists and not in our purses can take its toll.
Here's Seven Fun Fitness Facts and tips from me for a happier and healthier 2005.
FOOD - Try to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each day and cut down on fat, salt and added sugar. Being healthy does not mean cutting out all those special treats, just have them less often.
Try to choose snacks that are nutritious and filling, take your time! Eat only when you are hungry and savour the taste, texture and smell of your meal, remember it takes 15 minutes for your stomach to signal your brain that you are full!
It's all about getting the balance right.

FAGS - Don't smoke!
20 cigarettes a day can cost almost £1,600 a year. Treat yourself with the money you save.
You will benefit from quitting in so many ways, including lowered risk of serious smoking-related illness and disease, and improved lung function - so you will be able to run that extra mile or swim that bit further.
Support is available from Fag Ends 0800 195 2131 or ask your GP, Pharmacist or any other Health Professional for information on your local Stop Smoking Service called SUPPORT www.givingupsmoking.co.uk
FEEL GOOD - Try to manage stress levels by talking things through, relaxation, (why not try a few minutes of deep breathing?) and physical activity can help. Also exercise could take your mind off the cigs and release those feel good chemicals in your brain
FITNESS - Try to be physically active for at least 30 minutes, five days a week. Remember this doesn't mean gym fees, just try walking more, little changes can make a difference like parking your car further away at the supermarket car park.
Remember: 30 minutes of exercise a day keeps the doctor away.
FLUIDS - Try to drink at least six glasses of water a day. If you drink alcohol, try to have no more than two to three units a day (women) or three to four units a day (men).
FORGIVE yourself if you get it wrong, but don't give up.
FUN - Being healthier can be fun! Especially if you meet new people. Why not enrol on the Healthy Living Programme 'Passport to Health' lifestyle course.
