LSH were eventually overpowered by an outstanding second half performance from Morley in this entertaining North One clash.

Despite a much improved display from the Moss Laners, particularly in the first half, they remain in a relegation slot.

They had the ideal start after just two minutes with a try from Dan Jones after a Simon Worsley drop goal attempt had been charged down. Neil Hull latched onto the loose ball and passed to Danny Collins who then released the wingman to finish off nicely in the right hand corner.

With full back Michael Jones, on his return after a two year absence, looking comfortable under a number of high kicks from Colin Stephens and with a hardworking pack causing Morley plenty of problems, LSH threatened to extend their lead.

It was Morley, however, who scored next, levelling with a try from winger Karl Bradshaw after 25 minutes. Soon after they looked certain to take the lead with a 50 yard run from centre O'Callaghan until he was stopped inches from the line by a magnificent chase and try saving tackle from Nick Royle. The LSH winger also repeated the feat in the second half.

LSH ended the half in the ascendancy with Worsley landing a 35 metre penalty to give them an 8-5 lead.

It was a different game in the second half.

The visitors significantly upped their game bringing an increased number of errors from LSH at both lineouts and scrums leading to little or no effective possession for the home side for 40 minutes.

As so often in such circumstances LSH seemed, even to impartial observers, to benefit least from the referees whistle. Although Morley were clearly on top the LSH cause was not helped by apparently harsh decisions going against them at crucial times.

Morley took the lead with a try from prop Paul Gabriel in the 46th minute followed by a further score from full back Scott Evans twenty minutes later.

Stephens, after missing two simple penalties in the first half, converted both as well as landing a penalty in between.

This was a disappointing end to an afternoon which had promised so much. On the plus side Michael Jones looked as though he had never been away, Phil Hewitt came off the bench and made a number of trademark charges and both Dan Jones and Nick Royle showed what they are capable of given the opportunity.

Time is running out for LSH to climb out of the drop zone.

With eight games left, this week's home game (Saturday, 2.15pm) against fellow strugglers Altrincham Kersal could not be more important.
