AN evening of perfect entertainment was presented at the Theatre Royal, St. Helens when The Nick Ross Orchestra took to the stage with 'Sounds of the Glenn Miller Era.'
From the moment the show began with the lively 'Caribbean Clipper' to the much demanded encore 'In The Mood' it was class all the way.
The concert had a comprehensive programme which included music by Oscar Strauss, Ted Heath, Count Basie and Glenn Miller to name just a few of the big names featured.
All pieces were played professionally and kept the audience enthralled all the way through the evening.
Nick Ross, as well as being a first class band leader was also a very good host engaging the audience but making sure it was the music and not talk that was the most important part of the night.
Many members of the orchestra presented solo spots but of special mention was the drum solo by Danny Evans which had to be seen to be believed.
Their vocalist Mark added some great songs to the show and his rendition of 'New York, New York' was excellent.
And keeping the audience involved with the show was a 'novel' request system whereby members of the audience filled in request forms during the interval and many of these where played in the second half which I'm sure made many peoples' night out that extra bit special.
