A CHARITY which funds trips for handicapped children to Tenerife is encouraging local people to apply for places on the holiday scheme.
The Tenerife Lions International Disabled Children's society takes about 120 handicapped children, especially with downs syndrome or cerebral palsy, to the island for a two-week holiday. But project organiser Rex Mallet says he has never had an application for a St Helens child.
To raise funds for the holiday scheme, Mr Mallet, a sonographer based in the Canary Islands, is organising osteoporosis screening sessions at the Halton Stadium, Widnes, on Monday, February 21, between 9am and 5pm
Anyone who would like to be screened for the condition will have to pay £15, which will go to the Tenerife Lions.
Ultrasonic equipment examinations will be used for the examinations and patients will be given a detailed report to take their GP, if necessary.
Contact Rex on 01925 813652 to arrange a screening appointment or apply for your child to go a holiday.
