THE final St Helens Combination representative in the LCFA County Cups fell by the wayside as Premier Division side Old Congs (Haydock) went out 2-3 (after extra time), to St Ambrose (I Zingari League).
Although scoring first through Paul Barton, the heavy conditions at King George's Haydock, did not suit the lively Haydock lads as they were continually bogged down.
With Gary Arnold eventually levelling matters, extra time was played, but within five minutes the Liverpool outfit struck to go in front and with the strong wind behind them in the second period held out to take the tie and go through to the final.
Full marks though go to Old Congs for giving 100 per cent throughout the Intermediate Cup Competition.
Three games were called off in the Premiership but in the remaining games West Park Eccy's Arms (Gary Highton (2), and Andy Highton) outscored Stars to win 3-1, but the Dragon met their match at Parr Stocks, Graham Billinge hitting both goals for Shoe in their 2-1 success.
There were two casualties in Division One, but in the remainder Barry Connolly scored for Globe, but they went down at home 1-2 to Sidac Social Reserves.
British Lion still impress and this time Mark Pinnington, Mike Parr and Steve Mackenzie scored in their 3-0 win over Gerard Arms.
Saracens Head have to thank goal scorers Mike Pilling (2), Carl Gearing and Craig Holden for their 4-4 home draw with Junction.
The Second week of the Division Two Supplementary Cup took place with all the games being played.
Gary Kelly and Alex Ormrod scored for New Street in a narrow home win over OCS but Cricketers Arms (Ray Honey and Colin Hobyn) went under 2-5 to Orange House, Barry Kenyon, Steve Quinn, Mark Hamilton, Martin Ritson and Tony Parks scoring. Sean Moon was the top Combination marksman with four great goals, others added by Andy Martin in Top Nogs 5-2 beating of Realgate.
