BROOK got themselves back to winning ways in the awful conditions with forwards Steve Moss and Jimmy Forshaw leading the charge.

Superb handling and support play from Paul Toole and Andy Rawsthorne resulted in Andy Shaw finishing in style to score the opening try.

Toole added the conversion and extended Brook's lead with a penalty two minutes later after Farnworth were penalised at the play the ball.

Five minutes before the interval Brook registered their second try, an initial break from second rower Barry McGilvray paved the way, Andy Shaw supported and passed the ball out to Matty Foley who finished, Toole added the goal.

The final play of the half saw Farnworth's Tony Fretwell cross the visitors line.

With 15 minutes remaining a break resulted with Andy Rawsthorne harshly having a try ruled out and for five minutes the game was on a knife edge.

Brook failed to clear a kick through and Ian Fozzard dived on the ball as it stopped in a big puddle on the try line, Adam Hughes kicked the goal to bring the home side to within four points.

Brook made the game however with five minutes remaining when Phil Anderton took the ball from the scrum and deceived the defence to score the clincher.

Prop forward Ste Moss was the man of the match, with Jimmy Forshaw, Andy Shaw and debutant Andy Bates all performing well.

DESPITE the atrocious weather conditions Brook second string ran in six tries to get their promotion bid back on track.

Brook opened the scoring after just five minutes when half-back Lee Johnson stepped his way through for a solo try, with winger Ant Halsall going over at the corner for their second shortly afterwards.

Second-rower Andy Tucker powered his way over for a third home try, with Johnson adding the conversion. Then big Jon Hale went over from an inside pass by hooker Ian Williams with Johnson's second goal making it 20-0 at the break.

As the weather deteriorated in the second half so did the quality of rugby, limiting Brook to just two further scores. A break by Dave Hemmings led to Hale crossing for his second. Then Phil Smith, playing at centre, finished off a set move. Johnson added both conversions to complete the home tally.

Crosfields grabbed a late consolation try.

The Santime Quarries man-of-the-match for Brook went to Ian Williams with Dave Hemmings, Andy Tucker and Ste Galvin all playing well.
