AN attempt to put an historic Haydock movie centre stage is being made by our local Heritage Network, seeking out a three-hour video recording, compiled about 12 years ago and featuring almost 450 pictures of the one-time pit village.
The appeal goes out from the organisation's secretary, Chris Coffey, who writes "I am trying to trace, so that I can borrow and copy, the video, Around Haydock: Invitation to Look Back." This was produced in 1993 by two people, named Williams and Bond, says Chris who believes that at least one member of that partnership has since died.
"I would like to get in touch with their relatives for permission - if we can trace it - to re-release the video in digital and VHS format to show at various heritage events.
"There is a copy in the local history archives, but it cannot be borrowed," explains Chris, who would be grateful if anyone with any videos that have a local connection would get in touch.
Chris can be contacted by letter at his home, 37 Holbrook Close, St Helens WA9 3XH; by telephone on St Helens 817130; or by e-mail on chris.coffey@
