THREE out of four Combination teams fought through to Round Four of the Northern Cup Competition at the weekend.
The odd one out was Globe who despite goals from Robbie McCormack and Paul Kelly were dumped out 2-6 at home by Wigan based Springfield.
British Lion were in their best form, putting out another Wigan outfit, Winstanley St Aidans 3-1 with goals from Martin Pinnington (2) and Steve McEndry.
Liam Hynes scored the goal for Prescot Leisure Reserves in a 1-0 home win over yet another Wigan side Newborough.
The third Wigan outfit to be dispatched by a Combination side were Ormskirk who were trounced 1-6 by Pilkingtons A team.
In Week Two of the Division Two Supplementary Cup, Adam Khan (3), Richie Hunter (2) and John Ody were on target for OCS as they beat Cricketers Arms 6-0 at Common Road. Barry Kenyon was once again the scorer for Orange House, but they sadly went down, at home, 1-5 to Boilermakers.
Dentons Green Reserves too were in a scoring mood, beating New Street 6-2.
Next week, the Tom Worrall Cup Competition for First and Second Division teams gets off the ground in Round One.
It includes, by the Combination clubs permission, Huyton club Wastlebridge Park who already have put in their application to join the Combination next season.
They intend, if possible, to spend the rest of this season playing friendlies around the Combination.
The St Helens Combination are keen to extend their boundaries around the region and invite any open-age club to apply to secretary Robbie Deakin.
Also the offer is still open for any club wishing to help the Combination in its bid to form an Under 17 league next season.
