NEWTON'S breakthrough came half way through the first half when an offload from C. Hallard gave A. McKenna room to sprint over to score. Next it was Marple's turn to strike scoring to lead 7-5 at half time.
Marple added a penalty but it was not long before Newton crossed the line again with a set piece move in the Marple 22.
M. Boland created a gap for C. Hallard to exploit, who burst through the would-be tacklers to score under the sticks, the conversion was successful and Newton were up 10-12.
Marple squeezed over in the corner to retake the lead 15-12. A penalty late in the second half converted by A. McKenna levelled for Newton with four minutes to go.
It would prove to be Newton's day as with less than a minute on the clock J. Grainger weaved his way through the Marple defence to score.
