HEATH bowed out of the Challenge Cup at the hands of the National Conference Division One title-chasers - despite getting off to a dream start with two tries in the first five minutes!
The first came from a scrum with the ball fanned out to right winger Dave Hill who rounded his opposite number and raced 80 metres to touch down.
Then from the re-start stand-off Kevin Haselden's clever kick to the left flank was gathered by Dave Hull who stepped inside the last line of defence to score.
East Hull hit back with two well-taken tries by BARLA Great Britain hooker Weymes, both goaled by Docherty. And by the interval the visitors had moved into a 22-8 lead with further tries by wingers James and Russell, plus a touchline goal.
The Humbersiders seemed to have put the result beyond doubt with two more tries midway through the second half, courtesy of Cooke and Woodcock, plus another goal by Docherty to make it 8-32.
Heath scrum-half Dave Scott continually probing, they mounted a fightback with tries by substitute Ian Rothwell, Mark Hayton and Dave Gee, all goaled by centre Mike Woods, to make the score 26-32.
Hull had the final say when a mistake saw Weymes completed his hat-trick.
The hard-working Scott was Heath's best player with Dave Smith turning in a creditable performance on his return from injury.
