TWO men have appeared before court today (Friday, January 2) charged with an attack on New Year's Eve that left a man in a critical condition.
Darren Colin Bell, 29, of Folds Road, Haydock and Anthony Crook, 45, of Tickle Avenue, St Helens faced charges of GBH with intent when they appeared before St Helens Magistrates' Court.
The charges were brought after police were alerted just before 11.30pm on Wednesday to reports that 50-year-old Brian Adamson had been assaulted at the rear of houses on Boardmans Lane, Blackbrook.
He was found unconscious, suffering from serious head injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Today (Friday) Mr Adamson remains in hospital on a life support machine. His condition is described as critical.
Magistrates remanded Bell and Crook in custody ahead of a further court date next week.
