AFTER being welcomed into the community of St Helens, a selfless businessman is giving away free products to help people through the difficult winter months.
With a background in the property industry, Michael Jopson launched 'St Helens Flooring' at The Barge Business Park, on Merton Bank Road, after seeing a gap in the market for "modern, vibrant, and bespoke" home flooring products.
After launching the business in June and moving to Waterside Village, Michael has been so struck by the support of the local community, that he felt compelled to use his business to help people in need.

With St Helens Flooring enjoying a successful start, Michael felt that the business could withstand giving some products away to those who may be struggling to heat their homes, pay their electricity bills, or look after vulnerable people.
The potential of this idea was solidified the more that Michael has interacted with his customers, with many explaining their financial or mental difficulties to the businessman.
Deciding to give something back to the people of St Helens, Michael's giveaway project launched yesterday (Friday, November 29), as the business aims to give away 60 packs of laminate flooring to anyone in need this Christmas.
This is around 120 square metres of free flooring, which could fit between 30 to 40 houses, Michael said.
Michael, 38, said: "After seeing people coming into the shop and going to their houses, I've been really concerned about how many people are struggling.
"It just seems to be getting worse and worse, so after working and living in the community, I've decided to do something to try and help people.
"I'm not saying I'm going to change people's lives but hopefully I can do something to help them heat their houses and put a smile on their face.
"Since I've come to St Helens, people have shown me love so I wanted to show some love back."
