WHISTON Hospital has once again been named as having the best NHS gardens in the North West.
The Whiston site picked up the North West in Bloom Award for Best Hospital Gardens in the region for the second year in succession at a special ceremony.
St Helens Hospital also picked up a Gold Award for its grounds with both sites being rewarded for their commitment to creating and maintaining attractive environments that benefit patients, visitors and staff.
Ann Marr OBE, Chief Executive, of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said: “I am delighted that Whiston Hospital has been recognised as the Best in the North West, and that both hospitals achieved the prestigious Gold Award for our excellent grounds.
“The Trust is proud to provide hospital environments that are welcoming and calming, and our patients, visitors and staff regularly tell me how much they appreciate and enjoy the gardens.
“I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the local businesses who sponsor us to provide the wonderful plants and flowers and to David Platt Landscapes and his team who year on year provide the most beautiful surroundings for our patients and staff.”
The certificates were presented by Louise Scott, Deputy Lieutenant to the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.
