PLANS to convert a prominent guest house building have been withdrawn as the applicant was asked to make amendments to the proposals.
Proposals were sent to the council in September to turn the Park View Hotel and Guest House, on Prescot Road, into a 16-bed house of multiple occupation.
Permission was sought by applicant Raymond Guy for the change of use of the property at 333 - 335 Prescot Road.
The prominent Victorian detached building, close to Taylor Park, had been listed for auction earlier in the year.
An application form described the proposals as "conversion of hotel/guest house into 16-bed HMO".
HMOs are single properties that have at least three tenants living there, who share a toilet, bathroom, or kitchen facilities.
It stated there are 10 parking spaces at the property.
Objections to plans
One resident believes that the HMO will "likely lead to a decrease in property values in the surrounding area" and a "change in neighbourhood character".
The resident also claimed that the proposed HMO will "exacerbate existing parking problems" and will result in "increased noise levels due to the higher number of occupants".
Another neighbour stated that the building's previous use as a hotel and guest house had a "significant impact" on them and the proposed changes will impact their quality of life".
Applicant asked to make amendments
A notice on the council's planning portal confirms that the application has been withdrawn.
An email correspondence between planning officers and the applicant has been posted on the public portal.
In this, the applicant was asked to withdraw the application so that planning officers can discuss amendments to the application which would be required "to make it acceptable".
Details of the required amendments have not been published publicly.
A decision notice confirms the application's withdrawal.
