ST Helens firm Stones Tyres have teamed up with Gorilla Tyres to raise funds for a charity set up in memory of dangerous driving victim Violet-Grace Youens – with funds going to help others this Christmas.

Violet-Grace Youens died in March 2017 after being hit by a stolen car speeding on a 30mph at 83mph. She was four years old.

Since her death her family have not only fought to change the sentencing laws on dangerous driving, but they also set up the charity Violet-Grace’s Gift in her honour which raises awareness of organ donation and road safety as well as helping the hospitals who tried to save her life.

As part of Road Safety Week this week, Stones Tyres, based on College Street are taking a strong stance against selling part-worn tyres, which they believe compromise safety.

Instead, they go the extra mile to ensure these tyres can never be resold by drilling three holes in every tyre they remove.

Through this partnership, Stone Tyres and Gorilla Tyres will be giving every customer a Slow Down 4 Violet-Grace air freshener.

Violet’s parents Glenn and Becky Youens took to the charity page to say: “These air fresheners are a meaningful reminder to all drivers—when you see them hanging from your rear view mirror, remember that your speed is your responsibility.

“Take a moment to reflect on the importance of driving safely and never taking the lives of others for granted.

“In addition to supporting our road safety initiative, Stone Tyres and Gorilla Tyres have generously donated £1,000 towards our Christmas Campaign. This incredible contribution will help us provide toys and toiletries to families in need this Christmas.”

Violet’s little brother and sister Oliver and Ruby were invited down to the site to collect the cheque on behalf of Violet-Grace’s Gift.
