POLICE are hunting for a cannabis grower after uncovering plants at an address in Whiston following an anonymous call from the public.
Officers discovered a cannabis farm at a residential property on Hazel Avenue, Whiston, on Monday, November 18, after intelligence from the community.
An investigation is underway way in relation to cannabis production and abstracting electricity, police said.

A police spokesman said: "We received an anonymous call yesterday morning (Monday, November 18) reporting a disturbance at an address on Hazel Avenue.
"Officers attended and found the premises insecure. Around 60 plants and equipment were seized and enquiries are ongoing.
"The Cannabis Dismantling Team (CDT) attended and the property was made safe.

Some of the signs that cannabis is being grown are:
- Strange smells and sounds
- Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times
- Gardening equipment being taken into a property, such as plant pots, fertiliser, fans and industrial lighting
- Windows are sealed and covered or the curtains are permanently closed
- Heat from an adjoining property
- Birds gathering on a roof in cold weather
