A NUMBER of St Helens pubs are launching a campaign to tackle loneliness this Christmas.
The Boars Head, Little Pig, and Vulcan are among the 80 pubs across the North West encouraging their customers to spread festive cheer to those who may be alone this Christmas.
The initiative, run by Admiral Taverns' Proper Pubs division, aims to bring a sense of community and joy to people facing isolation.
Starting from November 15, until December 15, these pubs are inviting patrons to write cards with heartfelt festive messages.
These messages will be sent to people in local hospitals, nursing homes, or community groups.
Each participating pub will provide a list of recipients and take care of delivering the cards, ensuring a seamless process for those wanting to contribute.
The cards will be sent out on December 15, just in time for Christmas, aiming to bring a little joy and connection to those who may be spending the holiday alone.
Research by think-tank Localis revealed that 68 per cent of British adults feel pubs play a crucial role in alleviating loneliness in their communities.
This campaign is part of a broader commitment by Proper Pubs to engage with their communities.
Over the last two years, the division has donated nearly 40,000 Christmas selection boxes to local charities, a figure set to increase this year thanks to the generosity of patrons.
With over 200 pubs across England, Scotland, and Wales, Admiral Taverns' Proper Pubs division aims to foster connections and provide support within communities.
