CONSTRUCTION work has begun on an upcoming Starbucks coffee shop at a leisure and retail complex.

In June the coffehouse chain had confirmed it was to open a premises at the West Point site, off Linkway West.

The units is to be situated in the corner of the complex towards Liverpool Road.

The Starbucks forms part of the final part of ‘Phase B’ of the development at Linkway West, which the existing Costa Coffee forms part of.

The completed phases A and C at the site have seen premises including an Aldi supermarket, Home Bargains store, Superbowl tenpin bowling alley, and German Doner Kebab restaurant already launch at the site over the past several years, with Planet Doughnut recently closing its premises at the location.

A Starbucks spokesperson said in June: “We look forward to bringing the Starbucks experience to customers in Linkway West, St Helens in the near future and will be in touch once we have more specific plans to share.”

A planning application for signage at the proposed Starbucks was recently submitted to St Helens Council planners.

This includes for building signage which would consist of three Starbucks letters; four Starbucks roundels and one drive-thru sign box.

Other proposed site signage is for one pole sign; one height restrictor; two directional signs; one digital pre-menu board; one drive-thru order confirmation and one digital menu board.
